Black Matcha Bowl

Minimal matcha bowl (chawan) from Mie, Japan. Borne from a desire to create an attractive, unfussy matcha bowl that could be used in everyday life.

Made with unglazed bankoyaki clay, the bowl will absorb tea oils over time, developing a slightly shiny patina. The iron reacts with the high temperatures during firing, resulting in its blackened appearance.
