An expertly turned wooden tea tray created by 3rd generation woodturner Gato Mikio. This lacquered tray is a beautifully modern take on tea trays used in chadō, or Japanese tea ceremony. It is an appropriate size for bonryaku temae. That one can see the wood grain texture through the lacquer is a testament to the artist's masterful craftsmanship.
This tray is part of the Saibi series, a collaboration between Danish designer Lars Vejen and Gato Woodworks celebrating 150 years of international relationships between Denmark and Japan. Sharing a minimalist aesthetic, this collection is designed to provide a uniquely tactile experience while elevating everyday items.
