Traditional tea cup from famed 16th generation ceramics studio Asahiyaki in Uji.
The celadon glaze is made in the image of the clear stream of the Uji river, where Asahiyaki's studio has been located for over 400 years. This style of cup is known as a "morning glory" shape; the narrower bottom highlights the lighter colors of Uji green teas.
Before using it for the first time, soak it in water for 10 minutes to minimize staining.
