A matcha tea bowl (chawan) glazed with a light blue-grey crackle glaze. Kashibai refers to its glaze (tr. "oak ash glaze") whose color comes from the iron content in the ash. Designed as an everyday tea bowl, it is well-proportioned, feels balanced in the hand, and has a gentle sloped shape that makes for easy whisking with a chasen (matcha whisk).
Each piece is hand-thrown, with lines made with artists' fingers intentionally left to give the pottery a warm, handmade feeling. Please note the unique variations in the glaze around the bowl.
Before using it for the first time, soak it in water for 10 minutes to minimize staining.
